The nights were the worst, I wasn’t just fighting the pain that was endless, I was fighting the darkness, the fear and the crushing loneliness.
When the world was asleep my only companion was a distant dog barking somewhere in the night. Yet amid the darkness I discovered a resilience I never new I had.
